The Converse All Star debuted in 1917 as the first shoe designed for the young, emerging sport of basketball. The Chuck Taylor signature first appeared on the patch of the Converse All Star in 1923, when Charles "Chuck" Taylor began his tour across the nation to spread the word about the new and exciting game of basketball and the sneakers it required. And the rest, as they say, is history.
